Computer Graphics Capabilities
We use PC's and the software programs CorelDraw 11, Corel Photo Paint 9, and Adobe Illustrator 8 as our primary graphics software. We accept artwork files that can be imported in any of these programs.
If you are sending art to be used for screen printing we prefer vector type files. These are files that have been created in programs like CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator.
Our program of choice is CorelDraw. If you send us CorelDraw .cdr files, please convert all text files to curves prior to sending to us. This can be done by doing the following: Once you have completed your layout, select all text items and choose "BREAK APART" from the Arrange menu. Select all the text again and choose "CONVERT TO CURVES." Then save and e-mail us your file. In Illustrator, all fonts should be converted to outlines.
Try to keep file sizes under 1.5 meg. You can also compress your files using the program WinZip and we'll unzip them on our end.
Not Recommended: Pagemaker, ClarisWorks, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc.... When you send in these formats you are assuming that we have the same fonts you used. Otherwise, when we open these files, other fonts are substituted and what we see is different than what you sent. Better to fax the page to 609-737-7047 and send us the original image file that you imported into the program. We can still accept these formats and sometimes it's better than nothing.
Here are the type of files that we can accept: (We use PC's, not Mac's.)

We find when doing multi colored imprints vector art programs (CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator ) work exceptionally well. We also except bitmap art only for 1 color imprints.
Camera-Ready Art: Art for screen printed mugs should be sized to the imprint area allowed for mugs, otherwise we will imprint the image to the size that looks best, or is the largest we can on a particular item.
If sending halftone images, keep in mind our maximum l.p.i. capability for printing is 65 lines per inch.
You can send us artwork files via e-mail to Themuggery@aol.com or floppy disks that are PC readable along with 100 meg ZIP disks.
We can also accommodate those individuals supplying hand drawn artwork, through scanning, photocopying, and traditional paste-up methods.

Miscellaneous Imprint Charges: White imprints should be priced as one additional color. Purples and pinks are gold-based colors and may be priced as one additional color. Imprinting on a dark glaze will require an extra color charge: the imprint pigment has to be applied extra thick in order to maintain opacity.
The shades of ceramic inks will vary; depending upon the color of the item selected. We do not recommend the use of light or pastel ceramic inks on darker colored mugs. The color shade or glaze of coffee mugs may vary within an order. We cannot guarantee that reorders will be of the same color shade as a previous order or speculative sample. Variances in the color of glazes within an order is an acceptable industry standard
Printing a light imprint ink on colored coffee mug can be tricky. Some ceramic inks when printed on a dark mug will sometimes have an opacity. A white imprint on a black mug may seem to have a look where the white will be very light grey. Which in reality it is actually white, but the dark mug will give the print an illusion of an color change. Dark imprints on a dark mug will make the imprint color even darker. The best way to go about choosing your imprint colors is by having the colors opposite. White on black or black on white, etc...
Second Side Imprint: Normally no chg. if same color as frontside. However, if a wrap around or second side imprint can only be achieved by using decal application or a different setup and screen, there will be an additional charge accordingly. Gold or platinum on the second side will also incur an additional charge based on the imprint area.
Imprint Colors: We use fired-on Colors exclusively. Use the chart below to approximate PMS values of our standard Glass imprint colors.

**Satin Etch (also known as "Frost") is the
process of imprinting a frost-type color effect on the glass. It has the look
and feels very similar to a glass that has been etched. There is NO EXTRA COST
for this imprint! It is included in the pricing shown for all imprinted
glassware. This has proven to be our most popular imprint color. It's perfect for weddings or other events where budget is a concern, but elegance and style are still important. With Satin Etching, you don't have to worry about color-coordinating the glassware with the table decor. It works with any other colors. As with all of our ceramic imprints, Satin Etch is permanent, will never scratch off and is 100% dishwasher safe. |

PMS Match:
A standard (close) match for most
PMS colors is $75.00 - $115.00. Our ability to exactly match depends on the PMS
color required, please call -- remember that the nature of ceramics limits our
color palette as well as produces some variations during the firing process.
An absolute exact match can never be guaranteed. The shades of ceramic inks will
vary; depending upon the color of the item selected. We do not recommend
the use of light or pastel ceramic inks on darker colored
mugs.
Customers who want a very specific color are advised to request a "spec sample"
to make sure that the color will be correct
for them. If you need a very precise color, please be careful and discuss it
with us first.
Registration: An industry standard registration variance of ± 1/16" may occur with multiple colors and must be considered acceptable. We advise trapping your art to minimize problems for closely-registered spot colors.
Definitions: Trapping: Trapping is the process of overlapping adjacent colors to avoid multiple-color registration problems. Trapping, also called "choke and spread," is necessary in screen printing.
Line Screen: Line screens refer to the number of lines per inch in a halftone image. The lower the number, the larger and more widely spaced the dots. Higher numbers allow reproduction of fine detail.
Essential & Educational Information Regarding Gold
Techniques.
A. It is important to remember that 22K Gold or Platinum is
different from our ceramic inks. There are important art considerations that you
may wish to incorporate into your design. For example, in some instances 22K
Gold or Platinum will "bleed" more than ceramic inks and some art may
not be suitable for 22K Gold.
B. We do not recommend putting 22K Gold over a ceramic color.
Our "embossed" or coin effect is a distinctly different decorating
technique. The embossed or coin effect is not available when using a decal.
C. The thinnest 22K Gold or Platinum regular line that can be
imprinted is 1/64".
D. The thinnest 22K Gold or Platinum reversed line that may be
imprinted is 1/32".
E. The smallest 22K Gold or Platinum screen pattern that can be
imprinted is 30 dots per square inch (D.P.I.).
F. The use of 22K Gold or Platinum options are available at a
modest extra charge (see General Information Page). The 22K Gold or Platinum
imprint charge is in direct correlation to the amount of coverage requested. The
pricing listed for imprints in General Information is based on up to 3 square
inches of total coverage. For additional imprint coverage exceeding the 3 square
inches of 22K Gold or Platinum, please allow us to review your art and render a
quotation.
G. 22K Gold and Platinum are NOT dishwasher safe.
H. Please specify on your order the type of gold imprint desired. We offer non-metallic gold colors. Simply requesting "gold" may cause your order to be delayed. Be specific when ordering.
Stainless Steel Mugs
All stainless steel travel mugs are recommended for hand wash only. Not microwaveable nor dishwasher safe.
